Rwanda’s Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) centres will effectively be the responsibility of district authorities.
All the TVET centres distributed across the 30 districts of the country have been under responsibility of Workforce Development Authority (WDA).
“WDA has kicked off the handing over exercise of the former Vocational Training Centers (VTCs) to districts in order to ensure the effective management of them by districts,” WDA said Thursday.
The Workforce Development Authority (WDA) was established in 2008 to oversee implementation of TVET system- a vehicle to help empower Rwandans with skills and entrepreneurial capacity.
By 2017, WDA had overseen establishment of at least three TVETs in each district making the total of 90. Five more ‘model TVET schools’ or IPRCs, were established, across the country, one in each province and Kigali City.
