The Rwandan diaspora in Belgium on Saturday gathered in a sporting event named Journée Sportive (sports day), one of the events organized annually by the Rwandan Community Abroad living in Namur.
Events that were attended by lots of people included mini football, basketball, volleyball, traditional Rwandan board game, bicycle racing, a Kinyarwanda play by children, panegyrics, jogging and canoeing.
Jeny Faida the head of Rwandan community Abroad in Namur, thanked those who attended the sporting event, especially the youth.
She reminded them that sports are extremely important.
She upheld the value that President Paul Kagame has given to the event, in Rwanda in particular.
She thanked Rwanda’s ambassador to Belgium Amandin Rugira and those who had accompanied him for attending the events of the diaspora.

“While preserving our culture, we must keep it in mind where we came from and honor our homeland, ” she noted.
Meanwhile afterwards, different winning teams were given medal prizes.
The Rwandan Diaspora in Belgium brings together members of the Rwandan diaspora living in Belgium. It has local chapters in every province of Belgium and works in the social, educational and cultural fields.
