Members of the Rwandan Community abroad in Germany gathered this weekend in a general assembly where among other things, they elected a new national committee that will serve for the period 2019-2022.
The event was attended by Rwanda’s ambassador to Germany Amb. Igor Cesar who addressed the members of Rwandan community abroad at their assembly.
He appreciated the commendable work done by the outgoing committee and urged the new committee to “build on what was already built, and address areas that were not well addressed before”.
Igor also encouraged them to foster unity and community cohesion and play their role in national development. He assured them that the embassy will continue to support them.
As a guest of honour at a football friendly match, he also handed over the trophy to the winning team, FC Ente Bagdad, and to the second position team, Rwandan community team.
Diplomatic relations between Rwanda and Germany were established in 1962. Ever since, there exists close and trust-based ties. The two countries have embassies in both Kigali and Berlin respectively.
On economic cooperation, Germany’s support has been following Rwanda’s priorities as stated in vision 2020. The key areas of cooperation include decentralization and sustainable economic development, with a focus on the promotion of the private sector as well as vocational training.
