SUMMARY
Ambassador Valentine Rugwabiza, the Permanent Representative of the Republic of Rwanda to the United Nations and Ambassador Abdallah Y. Al-Mouallimi, the Permanent Representative of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the United Nations, signed the establishment of Diplomatic Relations between the Republic of Rwanda and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
On the occasion, the two Heads of Mission welcomed the establishment of diplomatic relations and are confident that today’s development, will lead to an enhanced and fruitful cooperation between the two countries, in political, economic, commercial, technical and cultural fields.
Ambassador Rugwabiza emphasized that Rwanda and the rest of Africa is open for business; she highlighted the positive steps being taken on the continent to accelerate integration and facilitate trade within Africa and the rest of the world, including the recent signing and launch of the African Continental Free Trade Area in Kigali, Rwanda. She further invited Saudi Arabia to explore business opportunities with Rwanda in the near future.
Ambassador Al-Mouallimi noted that Rwanda stands out as a prominent example of good governance, impressive leadership and progress which led to unprecedented national reconstruction. He expressed a desire to see the diplomatic relations being followed up by the establishment of trade relations and visits at all levels of government.
Ambassador Al Mouallimi has served as the Permanent Representative of Saudi Arabia to the United Nations since June 2011.
