Since March 2012, Government of Rwanda decided to make changes on how a child should be taken care of, and how he/she should be brought up in the family.
It is within this framework the Government of Rwanda decided to put to an end orphan foundations and to send the orphans to the families.
Talking to the Express News, Deputy Country director of Hope and Homes for Children, Karangwa Immaculee says more than 15 children foundations closed whereas 2933 have already adopted in different families.
The Express News pay a visit to Cyubahiro Patrick, one of the children who were adopted in the family. He said that he got a parent who stays in Gatenga Sector, Kicukiro District who cares him as his real son. He added that he makes him forget the life of orphan foundations he ever lived in.
He says: “ I was in bad life. Imagine to bring annual report from school to nobody. It was so unpleasant. Today I can tell everything to my parents.”

She says : “ Most of people insist that they are afraid of taking children because of school fees that increases day after day. But what is important is being characterized by charity.”
According to the statistics of Ministry of gender and family promotion released in June 2017, 1,244 children are still in foundations whereas 2714 got families.
