The Primary and Ordinary Level National examination results were released on Tuesday 9th at MINEDUC headquarters , Kacyiru and results shows girls have outshined boys in terms of performance.
National exams results were released in the publication ceremony, officiated by Dr. Isaac Munyakazi the Minister of State that took place at headquarters of the Ministry of Education(MINEDUC) in Kacyiru. Results shows an increase of pass rate from 89% in previous to 89.9% in 2017 from a total number 96,595 of candidates who sat for exams in 2017 from 89,421 in 2016.
The overall results shows girls outshined boys as for the category of best performers in all subjects at Ordinary level only 1 boy managed to appear on the list with all 7 others girls. Female candidates who sat for exams were 55.1 percent while other 44.9 percent were boys. The pass rate for girls is calculated at 52.05 percent with boys holding 47.95 percent in Ordinary level. As for the Primary the pass rate is calculated at 55.5 percent while boys came behind with 44.5 percent.
Dr. Isaac Munyeshaka, officiating the publication of results pointed feeding students at schools as among other factors which helped the increase of pass rate.
“We are glad that the cheating cases went down considerably in this year. This is because of strict measures were enforced. The pass rate also went high and this was due to the policy of feeding students at schools which enabled students to follow properly their lessons” said the Minister.
The minister also said that efforts to reduce the number of students up 55 per teacher is being made and should start with come next academic year. The effort is in a target to improve quality education.

Schools open on 23rd January 2018 for the 1st term of the school year 2018.
