Rwanda has unveiled a new and magnificent facility at the Butaro Cancer Treatment Centre located in Burera district in Northern Rwanda about 90Km away from the capital, Kigali.
On Wednesday afternoon, a symbolic ribbon was cut to officially let the modern facility that will host cancer patients as they undergo treatment at the centre.
This hospital unveiled in 2011, also hosts a modern laboratory which is the center of cancer treatment services including; screening, chemotherapy, diagnosis, surgery, patient follow-up, and palliative care.
The $5.8 million Butaro hospital was built in partnership with US-based Havard Medical School and Partners in Health (PIH). It has so far treated more than 6000 cancer patients.
Butaro Hospital Cancer Centre has 3 main sections; Children’s ward, women ward and men’s ward.
