In the next two weeks, 25 baby mountain gorillas will be named at a colourful annual ceremony that has always drawn high profile personalities from different parts of the world.
Speaking to the press on Tuesday, Belise Kariza the Chief Tourism Officer in Rwanda Development Board said Kwita Izina event is scheduled to take place on September 6th in Kinigi, Musanze district at the foot of volcanoes National Park.
As part of the series of Kwita Izina events, RDB and the African Leadership University have partnered to organise the Business of Conservation Conference which seeks to host conversations on sustainable conservation business on the continent.
Dr Gaidi Faraj with a rich blend of experience in education and private sector business on the African continent will be very instrumental during these conversations.
According to him, this conference will host experts on African conservation and business and discuss how best conservation can be integrated in the planning processes in a more sustainable & innovative manner.
Prior to the first official gorilla naming ceremony, the Park Rangers and Researchers named Rwanda’s baby gorillas as a key part of the on-going program in monitoring each individual gorilla in their family and habitat.
Expected at the 2019 Kwita Izina edition include Tony Adams a renown football icon, also confirmed include Louis van Gaal former coach for Barcelona FC and Manchester United.
Ne-Yo (Shaffer Chimere Smith) American singer, songwriter, record producer, actor and dancer is also expected at this magnificent ceremony- he will also perform at the conservation dinner gala.
