Currently, the world logistics market does not yet have the full line of services that enable it to become an all-round player in the world market.
There is also the need to have immediate, accurate, and secure information about the content of each shipment and its arrival time becomes vital – all these have a direct effect on economic growth and development.
From August 29th-30th, Rwanda will host global Transport and freight experts for the annual logistics convention to brainstorm on emerging trends, developments, opportunities and threats to the sector.
Discussions will be guided by the theme, “logistics; the engine of economic growth and development” experts will convene at Kigali Convention Centre on 29th-30th August.
According to Fred Seka President – Federation Of East African Freight Forwarders Associations (FEAFFA), delegates will share best practices, engage with transport and logistics policy makers, interact with a wide range of stakeholders.
Seka also doubles as chairman of Rwanda’s Freight Forwarders Association (RWAFFA) – he says this gathering provides an opportunity for the public, private sector, development partners and the civil society to promote mutual understanding and create a shared course of action.
“Also we will talk more about Self-regulations to the industry of Freight Forwarders with the Region. Good example RWANDA FREIGHT FORWARERS ASSOCIATION is far in this implementation supported by the revenue collection body RRA,” Seka told The Express News.
Organisers say this convention will bring on board participants from top performing countries in Logistics (based on LPI).
Breaking down this convention program – it will entail focused high level panel discussions, very enriching plenary and break-away sessions by top notch industry and public experts, Business to business/business to Government sessions, a rich Logistics Exhibition, Cocktails, Gala dinner.
On the list of speakers at this convention includes; Soraya Hakuziyaremye Rwanda’s Minister Of Trade And Industry, SEKA R. Fred Chairman FEAFA & RWAFFA, Robert Bapfakurera Chairman Of PSF Rwanda.
Others are Hussein K. Kiddedde – CMILT Chairman UFFA-Uganda,Shankar Subramaniam Executive Director Of National Association Of Freight And Logistics in India, Poul Hansen United Nations Conference On Trade And Development – USA.

The Rwandan team includes; Dr. Diane Karusisi CEO Bank Of Kigali PLC, John Mirenge CEO Of Prime Insurance – Prime, Bizimana Ruganintwali Pascal Commissioner General Of Rwanda Revenue Authority and Eric Rutabana CEO Of BRD.

It also comes as at time when the Continental Free Trade Area for Africa is beginning to take shape.
A Memorandum of understanding on some barriers is expected as part of the outcome of this convention
This Convention has been held successfully in the last two years, first in Tanzania in the year 2017 and last year in Kampala, Uganda.
The Kigali convention is organized by Rwanda Freight Forwarders Association (RWAFFA) and Rwanda Transporters Association, in collaboration with various Rwanda Government agencies and Private Sector Federation (PSF).
