Twenty six officers, who include 23 Police officers and three Correctional Service wardens, on Tuesday, completed a four-month Junior Command and Staff Course at National Police College (NPC) in Musanze District.
While presiding over the closing of the course, the Deputy Inspector General of Police in charge of Administration and Personnel, Juvenal Marizamunda, said that training is one thing but seeing the results of the attained knowledge and skills is another.
Completing training is an important step but it’s the beginning of your duties and other assignments and trainings that will follow,” DIGP Marizamunda told the officers.
He said that training is continuous due to the evolving policing environment, which requires to always being relevant with the current demands to detect and prevent crimes.
The Deputy Police Chief observed that security is an aspect of urgency that requires commitment, sacrifice and patriotism, having a sense of responsibility wherever you are, and taking professional decisions that address concerns of the people.
The security and safety of the people in Rwanda and their property is our duty,” he stated.
He also took time to also enlighten them on the Rwanda National Police (RNP) five-year strategic plan—2018 – 2023.
The strategic plan provides strategic framework within which the RNP operates to discharge its core mandate, a roadmap setting the direction of its national, regional and international operations at national, and ensuring that available resources are directed and utilized in accordance with determined priorities.
Key priorities include capacity building, intelligence led policing, community policing, quality service, cooperation and partnership and force welfare.
