Preparations for this year’s annual Rwanda International Trade Fair (RITF) are in high gear with many exhibitors already setting up their stands at Gikondo showground in Kicukiro.
Organised by the Private Sector Federation (PSF) and the Ministry of Trade, Industry and East African Community Affairs, the 21th edition of the event kicks off Next week.
Speaking to The Express News, Eric Kabeera, Private sector Federation, public relations, said, 500 local and international exhibitors have so far confirmed their participation.
The government uses the annual trade fair to encourage Rwandans to consume locally-made goods, as well as encourage and challenge industrialists to improve quality under the Made-in-Rwanda initiative.
Kabeera says local firms to use the event as an opportunity, not only to sell or market their products, but as a platform to network and form beneficial market linkages and international counterparts.
Tap and Go
He says this Year’s Expo Uniqueness is that Participants will use tap and go in the payments of their entrance no more receipts but only machines.
“This time 10 entrance will be used instead of using one gates as usual to make people enter easily to avoid trafficking on entry points. We are encouraging all exhibitors to buy everything using the cards trying to promote the cashless economy we want to change the people’s minds,” he says
He says tap and go cards will be used to make sure that participants are facilitated in the buying products easily. “This is in line to help them buy the quantity they want easily. Differently with paper money where you find clients having a high demand of buying products but cash becomes less in hand,” he says.
