Ugandan authorities are in panic after a 9-year Congolese suffering from Ebola crossed Mpondwe border into Ugandan territory.
Handlers at the Ugandan border crossing said the girl had arrived in Uganda on Thursday to seek medical assistance in Bwera, Kasese district in southwestern part of the country.
Ugandan Ministry of Health in a statement Thursday that the girl had been checked at the border and that she had not come into contact with anyone in Ugandan territory.
“This girl has been identified by our team that manages the crossing point of Mpondwe. At check, she showed signs of Ebola and was immediately taken away,” the ministry said in a statement.
“We still have an ambulance available, and it has been availed to the border team. Blood samples were taken and sent to Kampala for analysis,” the statement reads in part.
This Thursday, the results came back and the child is positive to Ebola.
