President Paul Kagame has said that Africans have potentials to sit down and find solutions of their problems without seeking foreign help.
Speaking to a congregation of the African heads of state that have witnessed the historic landmark signing of a new peace accord between President Filipe Nyusi and Renamo leader Ossufo Momade.
Kagame said that the signing of the agreement is a demonstration that Africans are capable of solving the problems affecting without the foreign influence.
“What has been achieved today is beneficial to all Africans. It shows that we have capacity of finding solutions of our own however, hard they are.Mozambican has come together so that they change their history. There is no single thing that can stop this country from attaining development and welfare of its citizens,” he said.
“It is not necessary to wait for the foreigners to give guidelines on the problems affecting the continent because their helping hand always comes with strings attached,” he adds.
The signing of the agreement between Renano and the government of Mozambique was attended by the different African heads of state including President Paul Kagame, Cyril Ramaphosa, Edgar Lungu, Hage Geingob, AU Secretary General Mousa Faki Mahamat, former Tanzanian President Jakaya Kikwete and others.
The attempt to sign a similar peace deal was tried in 1992 but later rescinded in 2013 when the government forces shot on militia’s encampment.
Fortunately, last week, Renamo started to disarm its army after both sides agree on the new agreement.
A number 5200 of soldier from the militia are set to be redeployed into government forces as others demobilize.
