African leaders are gathered in Congolese capital Brazzaville at a forum examining mechanisms to better support the process of economic diversification and job creation in African countries.
President Paul Kagame of Rwanda, Félix Antoine Tshisekedi Tchilombo of DRC, Joao Lourenço from Angola, Faustin Archange Touadera from CAR and their host Denis Sassou-N’Guesso, are at this 5th edition of the Investing in Africa Forum (Forum Investir en Afrique).
The three day forum (10-12th September) is conducting business under the theme; “leveraging partnerships to promote economic diversification and job creation in African economies”.
These leaders are worried that as world’s fastest growing youth population – expected to reach 1.3 billion people by 2030 – Africa needs to create one million jobs each month to meet growing needs.
Another stingy factor is that most of Sub-Saharan Africa’s economies have grown steadily over the last two decades but the expansion has been largely driven by the commodities boom- the leaders therefore want a diversification of their economies.
During this forum participants had the opportunity to share relevant experiences in mobilizing private sector investment, alongside public sector efforts to stimulate economic activity and job creation.
Organisers say at least the forum has attracted over 500 participants to the forum which constitutes an international platform for promoting multilateral cooperation and investment opportunities on the continent.
The Forum is jointly organized by the Congolese Government, the Ministry of Finance, the China Development Bank and the World Bank Group.
The Investing in Africa Forum (FIA) was established in 2015 as an international platform to promote multilateral cooperation and investment opportunities in Africa.
Sessions at the forum have been divided into interesting portions including;
Human Capital Development
Digital revolution, innovation and new economy of services
Public-Private Partnerships (PPP) and Business Climate
Industrialization and global value chains
Climate friendly energy solutions
