Dr. Bishop Laurent Mbanda who is taking over OnesphoreRwaje to the crown, was on Wednesday 17th, elected the Archbishop of Anglican Church in Rwanda.
Laurent Mbanda who was Bishop of EAR (Anglican Church in Rwanda) Shyira Diocese since 2010, was elected today during a meeting of the province’s House of Bishops at St Etienne Cathedral Hall in Kigali. He will succeed ArchbishopOnesphoreRwaje who retires coming June.
Mbanda has been before Bishop of Shyira Diocese where he was succeeded by Samuel Mugiraneza in March of 2017.
Mbanda is a man of big profile and has taken various leadership responsibilities all along his career as a bishop and had his biggest part in development activities along with helping needy people and children in the community.
Mbanda, who is a former vice president of Compassion International, has helped many children by adopting and providing for their basic needs as for paying for their school education and now some of them have been admitted in university in America .
During his tenure as Bishop of Shyira Diocese has also had his part in development of the country where he has contributed in infrastructure enhancement i.e. building classrooms mostly for children in nursery schools and other infrastructures such a school for Vocational Training Center, a hotel and a modern market in Musanze District.
Dr. Laurent Mbanda, 64-year-old, is a married with three children, he holds doublemaster’s degree with one in Christian Education from Denver Seminary.He was later honored with a Ph.D. by Trinity International University in America
