Dr. Tedros Adhanom a WHO Director General is in Rwanda since Wednesday, in a visit that is in line with Universal Health Coverage which is closely linked to Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The Director who arrived on Wednesday and received by Dr. Diane Gashumba, Minister for The Ministry of Health at the international airport at Kanombe, has proceeded on Thursday visiting some health facilities and had an opportunity to witness some other health services that already in place in Rwanda.
Dr. Tedros Adhanom Gyebreyesus, had a visit to Mayange Health Center today to witness the service of health to Rwandan citizens and he took an opportunity to commend service delivery with the one of community health workers no exception
“ As you might be all aware, Rwanda is amongst countries which have gone extra miles in decentralization of health services. I was not only here at Mayange Health Center to witness the service delivery but also to see the extent of community health workers contribution in decentralization of health services to local communities and I was really satisfied” said Dr. Tedros according to Igihe.com.
Dr. Tedros also took an opportunity to talk of his satisfaction on delivery of other services as of Vaccination to all children, subscription in health insurance “Mutuelle de Sante” for a big number for all citizens , maternity in hospitals and community health workers services which also he said it is recommendable to other countries.
Dr. Diane Gashumba said Mayange Health Center was selected as it is also a health center which is at an advanced level in many aspects such health insurance subscription where there are now at 100 per cent of subscription.
Dr. Trados Adhanom Gyebreyesus, had today travelled to Nyamata Genocide Memorial before where he paid tribute for the victims and laid flowers.
