In view of strengthening the existing relationship between Benin and Rwanda, the two parties meet for their first Joint Permanent Commission (JPC).
This JPC is going to take place on 29 to 30 September, 2017 at Serena/Rubavu. This 1st JPC, is going be co-chaired by Rwandan Minister of Foreign Affairs, Cooperation and East African Community, Louise Mushikiwabo and his counterpart of Benin, Aurélien Agbénonci.
This JPC is the one of the resolution, taken during the last visit by Minister Louise Mushikiwabo to Cotonou on Februaly 2017. The Joint Permanent Commission will allow Rwanda and Benin to identify more areas of possible bilateral cooperation.
During the session of this 1st Joint Permanent Commission Cooperation, the two parties will make assessment of the implementation of the agreements signed namely general cooperation agreement; Air Service Agreement; visa exemption and MoU on seventh freedom of Rwandair.
This will be the occasion to deliberate new areas of cooperation among: trade and investment, taxation, governance, civil aviation, security, information and technology.
In his last state visit, President Patrice Talon said that he wishes to collaborate with Rwanda in different sectors, and his counterpart, President Kagame pledged Rwanda’s support in working closely with Benin to push both countries to the next level.
Rwanda and Benin enjoy excellent relationship and open collaboration on African and international issues. The two countries signed a bilateral Air Service Agreement (BASA) in March 2016 and Rwanda Air started flights to Cotonou on 2nd September 2016.
