After Closing African Union-European Union Summit held in Abidjan, Ivory Coast, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Cooperation and East African Community Louise Mushikiwabo had an opportunity to meet Rwandan Community living in Abidjan.

It is within this framework, Minister Mushikiwabo took this opportunity to deliver President Kagame’s message of salutations and give them a glimpse of what is happening in Rwanda, regionally and abroad.

Minister Mushikiwabo also spoke with them on the summit and she replied the questions from some of the community members who were curious to know each and every thing about Rwanda.

Honorable Mushikiwabo said:” I spoke with them on the Summit that had just ended and what came out of it. “
She added: “I have answered questions from community members in order to let thme know the progress of our country.”

Minister Mushikiwabo was among Rwandan delegation led by His Excellency Paul Kagame who were in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, at the 5th African Union-European Union Summit which opened on Wednesday.

The 29th ordinary session of the Assembly of the African Union that ended in July 2017 ,in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia elected Rwanda to lead the Union in 2018.

That time Minister Mushikiwabo said that there is steady progress on the proposed reforms, adding that more than 10 countries are already implementing the January 2018 self-financing scheme.

Rwanda will take over leadership from Guinea on January 30, 2018. The President of Rwanda will then replace President Alpha Condé of Guinea for a period of one year.

This is the first time that Rwanda will be chairing the Union since it was established in 2001 and launched in 2002 as African Union (AU), replacing the Organization of African Unity (OAU).
